About Our Program
Gentle Roots Farm provides supplemental, in-person educational enrichment classes for homeschool and independent-study students. Our hands-on classes give students opportunities to explore agriculture, animal care, nature, science, gardening, cooking, creative projects, and outdoor skills in a working farm environment.
Gentle Roots Farm is an independent educational enrichment provider and is not a school. Our classes are designed to complement a student's primary homeschool or independent-study education.
Weekly Class Schedule
Classes are offered Monday through Friday. Activities, instruction, and projects are adapted to the age and grade level of participating students. Grade Levels Grouped TK-2, 3-5, and 6-8.

Course Descriptions
Farm Animal Care & Agriculture
Students explore responsible animal care and introductory agricultural practices through supervised, hands-on learning. Topics may include animal needs, feeding, habitats, farm safety, observation, animal behavior, and the responsibilities involved in caring for farm animals.
Lessons and activities are adapted to students' grade and developmental levels.
Nature Science & Exploration
Students explore life science, environmental science, and the natural world through hands-on observations, experiments, and outdoor investigations. The farm environment provides opportunities to study plants, animals, ecosystems, weather, seasonal changes, and other science concepts.
Gardening & Farm-to-Table
Students learn about plant science, gardening, food systems, and food preparation through hands-on activities. Topics may include seeds, soil, plant needs, seasonal growing, harvesting, measurement, nutrition, and age-appropriate cooking activities.
Creative Arts & Traditional Skills
Students participate in hands-on creative projects that may include arts and crafts, painting, nature-inspired art, building projects, bushcraft, traditional skills, and cultural studies. Projects encourage creativity, problem-solving, fine-motor development, and practical skills.
Outdoor Skills & Farm Exploration
Students build confidence and practical skills through supervised outdoor activities and farm-based learning experiences. Activities may include archery, farm games, nature exploration, age-appropriate outdoor skills, water activities, and collaborative challenges.
Class Registration & Pricing
Gentle Roots Farm classes are available to both private-pay families and families using approved charter school educational funds.
Families do not need to be enrolled in a charter school to participate.
Individual Course Pricing
Morning Enrichment Class — 9:00 AM–12:00 PM
$60 per class day
Morning + Extended Enrichment Classes — 9:00 AM–2:00 PM
$90 per class day
Individual classes may be booked on a drop-in basis when space is available.
Multiple Weekly Classes
Families may register for multiple weekly classes.
2 Classes Per Week
Morning Classes: $120/week
Morning + Extended Classes: $180/week
3 Classes Per Week
Morning Classes: $180/week
Morning + Extended Classes: $270/week
4 Classes Per Week
Morning Classes: $240/week
Morning + Extended Classes: $360/week
5 Classes Per Week
Morning Classes: $300/week
Morning + Extended Classes: $450/week
Sibling Discount
A 5% sibling discount is available on course fees for each additional sibling.
Additional Fees
Materials Fee: $5 per student, Per Day
The materials fee helps cover consumable supplies used during classes, which may include art supplies, science experiment materials, gardening supplies, cooking ingredients, and project materials.
Private-Pay Families
Gentle Roots Farm classes are open to the public.
Families do not need to attend or be enrolled with a charter school to participate. Private-pay families may register directly with Gentle Roots Farm.
Payment-in-full and monthly payment options are available for private-pay families. A deposit may be required to reserve a student's space.
Using Charter School Funds?
Gentle Roots Farm works with homeschool families using educational funds through participating charter schools.
Families wishing to use charter funds should follow their charter school's purchasing procedures and obtain any required approval or purchase order before attending classes.
Availability of charter funding is determined by each individual charter school. Gentle Roots Farm does not guarantee approval or reimbursement of educational funds.
